Tips and tricks

Find leaks before they find your floor

The signs of water getting in, and why a pressure test beats looking.

Water damage in a van is slow and hidden. Early signs are staining around windows and hatches, a musty smell, bubbling wall panels or soft spots in the floor. By the time the frame is rotten, the whole wall has to come off.

  • Check sealant around windows, roof hatches, lights and vents at least once a year. Sun and heat age sealant faster than you’d think.
  • Pay attention after heavy rain or washing. Damp in corners and cupboards is a warning.
  • A pressure test pushes air into the van and finds entry points you can’t see, before rot sets into the frame.
